Before you go shopping for your trick-or-treaters this year you might want to know what the kid's idea of a favorite Halloween treat is and what other things are handed out instead of Halloween candy.
FAVORITE HALLOWEEN TREAT IDEAS
According to recent surveys anything chocolate is the hands down winner for most popular Halloween treat. When asked what their favorite brand of candy was Reese's Peanut Butter Cups came up on top.
The top ten favorite Halloween treats rank Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as number one, with the next nine positions belonging to Snickers, KitKat, Butterfinger, Nestle Crunch, Hershey bars, candy corn, Three Muskeeters, Milky Way and popcorn balls.
Other popular choices for Halloween treats were lollipops, gummy candy and gum.
Bite size candy was also favored over full size chocolate bars (believe it or not)!
So if you want to be a hit this year with all your trick-or-treaters, now you're armed with just the right information before you hit the grocery store with your Halloween treats list.
HALLOWEEN TREAT STRATEGIES
Instead of just plopping down on the floor and devouring every last morsel, kids actually have certain strategies when it comes to how they handle their precious Halloween treats.
According to a recent survey, sorting their Halloween candy by order of most favorite is a must before enjoying their treats. After that crucial step, kids will generally eat their favorite Halloween candy first and then either share the rest or save it for later.
Swapping Halloween treats is also another way kids like to handle their precious cargo.
NOT SO POPULAR HALLOWEEN TREAT IDEAS
Thinking of handing out something besides candy this year? Although you'll be popular with parents, your trick-or-treaters may not be so thrilled to get something other than Halloween candy.
Here are some of things that according to seasoned trick-or-treaters, are the least popular Halloween treat ideas to hand out instead of Halloween candy. Topping the list was homemade cookies or cereal bars, followed by toys, salty snacks like potato chips or pretzels and fruit.
So beware of what you choose this year or you may find yourself on the trick end of a trick-or-treater!
TRICK-OR-TREATERS BEWARE!
Did you know that about ninety percent of parents admit they like to sneak treats from their kids stash? The bite size chocolates were the most "thieved" item out the bag. Other popular targets are M&M's, caramels and gum. Licorice however, tends to be left alone as the least favorite Halloween treat to sneak.
According to a survey done with kids 6-11 years old, most of them will share their loot with family and friends. Some will share it with their teacher (smart thinking)! Only a small percentage said they would not share their Halloween treats at all.
When a group of parents were surveyed about how they choose what to hand for Halloween candy most will select their own favorite candy verses buying either what is on sale or what the kid's favorites are.
Most parents also said they have a plan as to how many pieces of candy a day they will allow their children to have. Some parents bring a portion of the Halloween treats in to work and a few will keep a little on hand for home.
As you shop this year looking for just the right Halloween treats, keep in mind that your choices mean more than you think! It is not only the kids that will be watching who has the best treats. Parents will be eyeing that trick-or-treat bag too! Happy Halloween!
There are many kinds of candy one may enjoy eating. Some prefer chocolate candies while others prefer fruity candies. Personally, I like the fruity kinds the best. I have nothing against chocolate but I think that the fruity candies are far more enjoyable. When I think of my favorite fruity candies, quite a few come to mind.
The most prominent fruity candy in my book is by far Sweedish Fish. There is no other candy that can compare taste wise to the great flavor of Sweedish Fish. I don't think its just me either. In a simple random survey conducted among 30 participants at a high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I found that nearly thirty five percent of all of the sample selection preferred sweedish fish and made it rank as their number one favorite candy.
There are other fruity candies that people find enjoyable. In the same survey I found that Skittles also rank very high. I think people like Skittles so much because there are so many different flavors. For instance, one of my favorite flavors is strawberry. So I do enjoy eating the strawberry flavored Skittles. Some people might like orange better, or maybe they prefer the grape flavor. Whichever flavor you prefer, Skittles has. I think that is why they are such a popular choice among people. I think that Starbursts are so popular for the very same reason.
When it comes to chocolate, there are some candies that I have found to get the job done. I especially like Snickers. There is something about the mixture of caramel, chocolate and nuts that is completely enjoyable. If you don't like Snickers then I wonder what kind of chocolate you do like?
The only other kind of chocolate that really gets the job done for me is Hershey's dark chocolate. This chocolate is so sweet and has such a powerful taste. Sometimes it is too strong if you just bite into it and eat it. For this reason I let the bar dissolve in my mouth for a few minutes before it is finally gone.
There are many enjoyable candies. I gave you some of my favorite candies, you should all post an article with some of your favorite candies so we can learn more about other kinds of candies. I know that Easter has come and gone and kids won't get candy again until the fall when Halloween rolls around. I have a feeling though that the Easter candy in my house will last for some time.
There is quite a bit and no matter how much I eat it the stash never seems to get any smaller. I actually think I should stop eating the sweet tarts before I turn into one. Come to think of it, I do not even think I have had a real lunch yet. Perhaps I will get on that and leave the candy eating to someone else for a little bit. Until next time- be sure to enjoy your candy.
Weight Watchers meals are all over the internet! Just one search and you'll get almost everything that you need from cookies, frozen meals to recipes and cookbooks. It could be a frantic search for a person does Weight Watchers but do they really work? Let us take a look at these meals closely.
Cooks.com caters resources for different recipes of Weight Watchers meals. It's indeed delectable to find pies, meat loaf, cookies, snickers and brownies on this site. Most of the steps are easy to follow and the ingredients are too easy to purchase. However, if you're going to browse each of them to look closely at the ingredients especially those of the Weight Watchers, some are actually surprisingly of high Glycemic Index (GI) like Grapenuts. They're actually carbohydrates that generate high fluctuations in our insulin levels and blood glucose. Thereby, it gives higher risks for heart disease and diabetes. It's not just an issue of whether these Weight Watchers meals work, after then it becomes more on the issue of health.
Another example's the Weight Watchers cookies. It contains brown sugar and carob chips. According to Calorie King, the plain carob contains 5 cal per gram or 153 cal per ounce. It also contains 8.9 grams of fat for every ounce and nearly 15 grams of sugar. Carob they say, have more sugar than chocolate. Natural brown sugar on the other hand contains 11 calories per 4 grams or 1 teaspoon. Compared to white sugar, brown sugar may be considered healthier but with 11 calories per 4 grams, this ingredient's not to be considered a good meal for a person who wants to avoid diabetes. It's indeed interesting how Weight Watchers meals try to substitute the most favored delicacies like chocolate. However, while looking closely at their substitutes it seems unbelievably convincing that they are healthy. Just consider the 8.9 grams of fats from carob chips - how's that for a diet food?
Weight Watchers meals are always accompanied by calculators and nutrient database. Even USDA knows that such nutrient databases is standard but are simply close estimates of the specific values. It's relative to the estimates of ones walk going to their neighbor's house. Apparently, mathematics and physics could always defend that good solutions come from estimated variables, but that's if all the other factors have specific values. In the Weight Watchers meals, all the computed fats, calories and sugar are simply estimates and from these estimated values are Weight Watchers meal references. Thus, it doesn't sound substantial. From estimates you beget estimates and they consider them good bases for their meals. Isn't that stupendous?
If one's to consider of its viability to be 100% healthy, chances are it isn't. While, if one is to consider if they give you the exact amount of fats, calories and sugar for every meal, the situation is improbable. Since, the question has been answered, try switching course. The "11 pounds for 9 days" is a good offer from Fat Loss for Idiots.
You may be enjoying your Hershey's Milk Chocolate today but do you know that these delights are made since the 1900s? Yes, these are some of the retro sweets that made it through the changing times and proved to be one of the loved classic sugary treats in the world.
It was in 1896 when the first Tootie Roll came out. It was Leo Hirshfield who made it and had it named after her daughter Tootsie. Well, look at that, I'm sure a lot of us has memories associated with this particular chewy goodness. A retro sweet indeed but is continued to be loved by the public. Though you don't see as much on the store shelves now, it still never fails to give enjoyment to those who have grown with it and the new generation also finds it appealing and of course tasty!
During the 1920s some of our still beloved candy bars came out. The Baby Ruth was invented on this year. Believe it or not, it was named after for President Grovers daughter, Ruth. I have been to a lot of movie houses, picnics, sports events and dates and this candy bar was always there. Whenever I have the chance to stumble on these goody retro sweets in stores, I always bring home quite a number for the family to enjoy.
Candy canes! Oh they surely add colors and smile during the holiday seasons. On 1950 Bob Candy Canes were introduced as the Kris Cringle Brand. These retro sweets have become a sensational Christmas symbol and ever famous among young ones and the young at hears alike. No Christmas of ours is ever complete without candy canes hanging on the Christmas tree every December.
Who doesn't know Snickers? These treats are everywhere! It was on 1970 when the first the first Snicker Munch Bar is created. Another well loves retro sweets that transcended throughout the years! We continued to love them and the kids of the new generation love them too! Surely Snickers will be here to stay for a longer time.

Glycemic Index - Why you need to know it for the sake of your health and Longevity.
The glycemic index will tell you how fast a particular food is broken down into blood sugar (glucose). For health and longevity reasons this is important for you to know.
Sugar being the fastest is set at 100 and all other foods are measured against it. Therefore when a foods glycemic ranking is close to 100 it is turned to blood sugar rapidly. The closer to zero the slower it is turned to blood sugar.
The breakdown is as follows: Foods which rank between 70 and 100 are considered high, 56 and 69 intermediate and 55 and less is low (and are turned to blood sugar slow).
As an example here are some foods and their glycemic rankings.
High Glycemic Index Foods
Sugar 100
Rice Chex 89
Corn flakes 84
French fries 75
Cheerios 74
White bread 70
Intermediate glycemic ranking
Whole wheat bread 69
Mars bar 68
Beets 64
Hamburger bun 61
Low Glycemic Index foods
Oatmeal cookie 55
Frosted flakes 55
Potato chips 54
Macaroni 47
Spaghetti 42
Snickers bar 41
Ravioli, meat 39
Apple 38
Pear 38
M&Ms peanut 33
Peach 33
Skim milk 32
Whole milk 27
Cherries 22
Peanuts 14
If you are like most people you are amazed by this chart. If you find it riveting don't worry you are normal. It is riveting.
Some of the stuff you might think is a misprint. Skim milk is 32 and whole milk is lower at 27 how can that be? Whole wheat bread is 69 and white bread is only one point higher at 70. Oatmeal cookies, those sweet sugar coated frosted flakes and potato chips all squeak in under the low ranking? You got to be kidding. And if you are pasta lover the great news is pretty much every kind of pasta is in the low ranking.
And perhaps the biggest surprise is a candy bar, Snickers, is only 41, and M&Ms peanuts are only 33 this is impossible we're talking about CANDY here. Well a Snickers bar and M&Ms peanuts both have peanuts in them. Look where peanuts are, 14. If you have candy combined with a protein the protein will actually slow down the rise in blood sugar. Waist watchers take note this is a very important tip for losing weight.
By now you may have gotten the idea that a high glycemic ranking is bad and a low one is good and you would be right.
The high glycemic foods cause "spikes" in the blood sugar. The blood sugar rises rapidly and you may experience a sugar high but then the body responds by pumping out lots of insulin which immediately lowers the blood sugar but it lowers it too far and then you experience the depression and tiredness of the "sugar blues."
Foods in the Low glycemic category release blood sugar slowly so you feel full LONGER and your energy remains steady. You are not as ferociously hungry for your next meal so won't consume as many calories plus you will be less inclined to snack between meals thus lowering your daily caloric intake in an easy effortless way.
The ideal situation for someone trying to lose weight!
There are so many books, articles, theories and opinions on weight loss most of them contradicting each other it is impossible to know which direction to take. It is fantastic to finally have a system devoid of all opinion that ranks foods scientifically according to the glycemic index.
Sir Temp will be out for a while. In the meantime, why not enjoy a delicious Snickers and Doodles cookie?! Music by Linkin Park
